Having hunted big game in Zimbabwe and Namibia over a dozen safaris, i decided to look further afield, wanting to specifically
target big,old cape buffalo.
Having shot quite a few , i wanted a real wilderness area to chase only dugga boys.
I did my research, and narrowed my search to the Niassa area of Mozambique, in the very north of the country .
The Niassa concessions consistently produce buffalo well over 40’’ , with mid to high 40’s taken regularly.
A bonus with this area is the great abundance of plains game, especially Eland, Sable, Zebra , Hyena, Bushbuck, Waterbuck and the list goes on, as we found out!!!
On further investigation, we made contact with Dave Langerman, whom had hunted extensively in L7 , which was my preferred concession within Niassa.
We made a plan with Dave and dates were discussed and we booked our safari on Dave’s advice regarding time of year.
All the pre-safari planning was meticulous. Permits, charter details etc all were handled efficiently and we got to Niassa as planned .
The hunting far exceeded our wildest expectations! It was exactly as Dave had described it! The harder we hunted , the more chances on truly big trophies we were given.
It was by far one of the most outstanding safari that we have ever been on!
To take such a selection of top level trophies in the one place was incredible!
Certainly not achievable in any other place we had hunted previously in one safari.

We now plan on going back with Dave and chasing the truly ancient old Dugga boys of Niassa for round 2!!!!
